We are excited to report that the project is moving along well. As Shibusa’s first build with Revision West, there have been a few expected bumps in the road that have caused some delays, but we still are amazed at the fast pace that this house is going up with only 6 workers. We had initially estimated that this first build would take between 12-16 weeks to complete but as of now (week 5) we are shooting for completion in 10 weeks, which is the end of September. Fingers crossed.
You can watch the time lapse video that shows days 16-25 here (though unfortunately the video doesn’t do justice to the interior walls, fire sprinkler system, and majority of the plumbing that were also installed during this time– more videos of that coming soon).
We have had a lot of interest in Shibusa’s Precision Component Onsite Assembly process and their sustainable and economical housing product, leading to a steady stream of visitors coming to tour the site to learn more. The Mayor of Monterey was our most recent visitor. Thank you, Mayor Tyller Williamson, for touring the build and for all your enthusiasm and support for our combined mission to deliver more resilient and attainable housing for the Missing Middle in our City! Our vision is to build many more houses to Monterey in the future.
